Category:Species pages needing binomial redirect

This category is for species pages that need to be redirected to another page.

The most basic default standard for naming a species profile page on HopperWiki is to use the binomial of the species only, e.g., Schistocerca gregaria. This page is always created and always exists for every species on the wiki. However if an "official" English common name is chosen for the species by HopperWiki editors, then a compound title is created for the main forward-facing page e.g., Desert locust (Schistocerca gregaria) and the content is moved to this page. In the latter case, the original binomial-only page title still exists but it is redirected to the page with the compound title.

If pages in this category have titles which only contain a binomial, they most likely have a counterpart page on the wiki that uses a compound title (common name + binomial) and from which they have become orphaned. This can happen if someone creates a new page without realizing that one already exists, or if someone changes or corrects the spelling of a common name, thereby generating a new compound page title.

In such cases, the following needs to happen:

1. Any content worth saving from the binomial-only page should be transferred to the "real" page for that species (the compound-name page). Carefully compare the two pages and make sure all relevant information is moved to the forward-facing page.
2. The binomial-only page should then be converted to a redirect page by removing its content and adding syntax similar to the example below.
3. After the above steps are completed, remove the {{Binomial redirect review}} tag from the binomial page so that it no longer appears in this category.
