Alexandre Latchininsky is an internationally recognized expert in locust ecology and management, with decades of experience in research, field operations, and capacity building across affected regions. He has made significant contributions to understanding the biology, monitoring, and control of locust species, particularly in the Caucasus and Central Asia.

Currently serving as a consultant with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Latchininsky has authored and contributed to numerous scientific publications, technical guidelines, and key resources, including the recent FAO’s technical series on locust management. His work has been instrumental in advancing integrated pest management strategies, promoting regional cooperation, and supporting sustainable responses to locust outbreaks
